asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will arrange for recruiting officers to have status and conditions of service in the Army equivalent to those enjoyed by recruiting officers in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force?

I am unable to agree to any change in the status of recruiting officers.

As the recruiting officers in other Services are officers on full pay, why should not Army recruiting officers be similarly treated?

Sir J. Grigg

Because they are not in the Navy, and because they have to be assimilated to corresponding employees of the War Office.

Will not my right hon. Friend stand up for the Army?
