HC Deb 19 May 1942 vol 380 c36
68. Major Lloyd

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport what steps are being taken to ensure that the necessary skilled labour is available for the manufacture, fitting and testing of gas-producer units; and how many units it is estimated can be produced and fitted during the next six months?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport (Mr. Noel-Baker)

The Government appreciate to the full the importance of ensuring that skilled labour is available for the manufacture, fitting and testing of gas-producer units, and the question is engaging their close attention. I am not yet in a position to give an estimate of the total number of producer units which can be produced and fitted during the next six months.
