HC Deb 26 March 1942 vol 378 c2124
12. Mr. Glenvil Hall

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that early in February last a large number of men were sent from a certain firm to break up the frosted peat surface of a certain dog-racing track; whether lie can state the extent of the loss thus sustained in the production of aircraft components; and whether this transfer of labour had the sanction of his Ministry?

Mr. Bevin

No, Sir, but I am having inquiries made and will communicate with my hon. Friend.

Mr. Hall

Without placing more emphasis on this matter than it deserves, may I ask my right hon. Friend whether he is aware that this track appears to get all the labour and material it needs, that some of the directors of this firm are also directors of the Greyhound Racing Association, and that in fairness to the public it is high time this racket was cleared up?

Mr. Bevin

I can assure my hon. Friend that every inquiry I ever make is very thorough.
