HC Deb 26 March 1942 vol 378 cc2146-7
57. Mr. Lipson

asked the President of the Board of Education, how many secondary schools receive direct grants from the Board of Education; and what are the conditions under which a school can qualify for such grant?

Mr. Ede

The number of secondary schools in receipt of direct grant from the Board at the present time is 233. In order to qualify for such grant a school must be accepted after inspection as suitable for recognition by the Board and must comply with the conditions set out in the Regulations for secondary schools, of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy.

Mr. Lipson

Are any public boarding schools included among those receiving direct grants?

Mr. Ede

I hope my hon. Friend will put that Question on the Paper.
