HC Deb 26 March 1942 vol 378 c2142
42. Mr. Thorne

asked the Home Secretary whether he can give any information in connection with the two club raids, in Whitechapel Road, under the Gaming Act: how many people were charged at the Thames police court on 23rd March; and what action he intends taking about closing the club?

Mr. H. Morrison

Both clubs were entered on 21st March, and card-gaming was in progress. In one a principal and 34 frequenters and in the other a principal and 32 frequenters were arrested and stand remanded until 7th April. As the cases are sub judice any further statement must be reserved for the present.

Mr. Thorne

Right; I will follow that up.
