HC Deb 25 March 1942 vol 378 cc1995-6
64. Mr. Mainwaring

asked the Minister of Supply what explanation he can give for Thomas Price, of Ferndale, having been given employment as book-keeper at a certain Royal Ordnance Factory, after having first passed a test for efficiency, and presented himself to commence work on 23rd February and two succeeding days, but having no work of any kind allocated to him, on the third day being handed a notice to terminate his employment on 28th February on the alleged score of unsuitability?

Sir A. Duncan

I much regret Mr. Price's experience, which was the result of a misunderstanding between the office and the workshops at the factory referred to. Arrangements were made for his reinstatement immediately the facts were brought to my notice.

Mr. Mainwaring

Will the right hon. Gentleman accept my appreciation of the satisfactory and expeditious manner in which this case has been dealt with?
