§ 2. Mr. Rhys Daviesasked the Minister of Labour whether he will issue instructions to all tribunals judging claims for exemption from military service by conscientious objectors, that members of such tribunals must not sit in judgment in cases where they are in any way connected as the employers of any conscientious objector appearing before them.
§ The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Bevin)While I have no authority to issue instructions to these tribunals, I have no doubt that the members can be relied upon to exercise their discretion to withdraw from the hearing of any case in which they are personally interested.
§ Mr. DaviesIf I send the right hon. Gentleman a case in which a member of a tribunal sat in judgment on one of the employees of the executive of which he was a member, will he look into it?
