HC Deb 18 March 1942 vol 378 cc1509-10
48. Dr. Little

asked the Prime Minister whether he will appoint a day, to be kept free from all work, as a national day of prayer for victory for our cause and the defeat of our enemies?

Mr. Attlee

The question of a day of National Prayer is under consideration.

Dr. Little

May I ask whether, for that day, there will be issued an appeal to the nation for return to God with humble, penitent hearts and prayer upon their lips seeking His interposition, favour and blessing?

Mr. R. C. Morrison

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider setting aside a day on which clergymen could do some work for the national effort?
