HC Deb 17 March 1942 vol 378 cc1312-3
18. Commander King-Hall

asked the President of the Board of Trade, whether he will take steps to prevent the purpose of the restriction in the manufacture of cosmetics under the Limitation of Supplies Order being defeated by the unrestricted sale of medicated creams, ointments and balms, as is now the case?

Mr. Dalton

If my hon. and gallant Friend will let me have particulars of any medicated toilet preparations which are being sold without restriction, I will have inquiries made. But my present information does not support the statement contained in the Question.

Commander King-Hall

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the amount of these balms and medicated creams now on sale without restriction is increasing the whole time, that they were not on sale at all before the issue of the Restrictions on Supply Order, and that they can be and are used instead of cosmetics which have been restricted?

Mr. Dalton

I shall be glad if the hon. and gallant Gentleman will send me the details.
