HC Deb 12 March 1942 vol 378 cc1173-4
6. Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that there is a widespread desire on the part of suitable ex-Service men in reserved occupations to serve in the Fighting Services; and whether, as much of their work was done by women during the last war, consideration is being given to this proposal?

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Bevin)

I am not aware of any widespread desire of this sort, but where such desire is expressed there are arrangements under which in many cases effect can be given to it.

Mr. Adams

Is the Minister aware that there is a widespread demand for this?
