HC Deb 12 March 1942 vol 378 cc1183-4
30. Rear-Admiral Beamish

asked the Home Secretary what comments he has received from the South-Eastern Regional Commissioner on the uneconomical aspects of the provisions of H.S.C. 256, which bear hardly upon the local authorities whose Civil Defence services are in a great measure voluntary, and who, because of this, find themselves denied grants-in-aid unless they are prepared to increase very largely the expenses of their Civil Defence, despite its efficiency and contentment; and will he modify H.S.C. 256?

Mr. H. Morrison

I am making inquiries into the matter.
