§ The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Buildings (Mr. Henry Strauss)The Town and Country Planning Acts confer no general exemption on any body or authority, and the provisions of a planning scheme are 930 enforceable notwithstanding exemptions under other enactments. The Crown is exempt from the provisions of these Statutes; but my Noble Friend considers that such exemption is unlikely in practice to lead to difficulty in future.

§ Mr. StraussThere are certain provisions in some relevant Statutes which are modified, or give certain exemptions, in the case of railways. The matter is one of considerable complication. If my hon. Friend will confer with me on the particular matter that he has in mind, I shall be glad to look into it further.
