HC Deb 10 March 1942 vol 378 c910
17. Mr. Isaacs

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether there has been any increase of pay provided for boy bandsmen or boys attached to bands; and, if so, what amount is held over as post-war credits?

The Financial Secretary to the War Office (Mr. Sandys)

There has been no increase of pay provided for boy bandsmen or boys attached to bands, since the outbreak of war. These boys will be eligible for a post-war credit. The amount is under consideration.

Mr. Isaacs

Would it not be fair to give some increase of pay to these boys, who have to mix with boys from industry who have plenty of money?

Mr. Sandys

I understand that for the work they are doing they are adequately remunerated.
