HC Deb 05 March 1942 vol 378 c803
45. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Prime Minister whether, in connection with the committee which was recently set up to deal with matters affecting the amenities and welfare of the three women's Services, he will consider the appointment of a Minister in the House to deal with all questions affecting these Services, with a view to a Government spokesman being available to answer all relevant questions?

The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

No, Sir.

Mr. De la Bère

Is not my right hon. Friend aware of the ever-growing need for someone to answer in the House for the three women's Services, in view of the many problems that arise? Why not give the matter further consideration and really do something that would please a large number of people throughout the country?

Mr. Attlee

I think we have to consider what would be the most efficient way of dealing with this subject, and not the question of pleasing people.
