asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will assure the House that the increased allowances granted to families and dependants will in no way be assessed as increasing the family income in such a way as to decrease allowances in cash and kind at present granted on an income basis?

I would refer the hon. Lady to the answer given on 18th February to the hon. Member for Barnsley (Mr. Collindridge), of which I am sending her a copy.

Is that a satisfactory answer to the Question I have put on the Order Paper? Might I have an answer to the Question; otherwise, I shall give notice for the Adjournment?

This answer was: A complete review of all war service grants in issue was recently carried out in order to bring them into line with the principles laid down in Command 6318. It is not intended to undertake a further general review at this stage; but as and when a grant comes up for reconsideration for other reasons it will be reassessed on the basis of the facts then existing, including the actual allowances in issue by the Service Department."—[OFFICIAL REPORT, 18th February, 1942; col. 1800, Vol. 377.]

Is milk supplied on an Income Tax basis to be no longer supplied?

The assessment is on the basis of income.
