asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will now give reasons for the suggested amalgamation of the Voluntary Aid Detachments with the Auxiliary Territorial Service; and does he realise that such amalgamation will be unpopular?

I regret that I have at present nothing to add to previous answers given recently on this subject.

Can the hon. and learned Gentleman give an assurance that there will be a chance of debating this matter in the House before this comes into force?
