asked the Prime Minister whether it is permissible for newspapers in this country to publish figures of shipping losses which have appeared in the American Press?

Yes, Sir, but they are required to make it clear that they are only reproducing what has already been published in America.

Mr. Lipson

Is my right hon. Friend aware that by permitting publication of these figures the impression is created that they are substantially accurate? Is it wise to refuse continually to publish official figures?

That is another question.
