HC Deb 24 June 1942 vol 380 cc1978-9
67. General Sir George Jeffreys

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether, as petrol allowances are made for motorists who are resident in the country to attend church and go shopping, he can state what allowances will be made for such residents to reach railway stations if they live a long way from them and if they have to come to towns for business purposes?

Mr. Lloyd

Where, owing to the absence of adequate alternative transport an applicant is obliged for the purposes of his business or profession to drive to the local railway station, the Divisional Petroleum Officer has discretion to grant a suitable allowance.
