HC Deb 24 June 1942 vol 380 cc1977-8
65. Major Lyons

asked the Minister of Supply the circumstances in which ex-Army vehicles have been sold by auction, or by unrestricted tender, this year; and the numbers involved?

The Minister of Supply (Sir Andrew Duncan)

No ex-Army vehicles have been sold by the Ministry of Supply by auction; but, before the existing arrangements for controlled disposal were made, 1,550 ex-Army motor cycles and 1,259 motor cars had been sold this year by unrestricted tender.

Major Lyons

Do the assurances given, and the elaborate machinery explained by the former Parliamentary Secretary about the end of last year, still hold good in regard to the operating machinery for such control?

Sir A. Duncan

I shall have to refer to that answer before I can reply.

Major Lyons

Will my right hon. Friend answer a Question on those lines at some convenient date, and say whether any alteration has taken place?
