HC Deb 24 June 1942 vol 380 c1981
76. Sir Smedley Crooke

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider the advisability of issuing a sufficient number of clothing coupons to serving men who are about to be dis-charged before the discharge actually takes place, to be handed to them with their discharge papers?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Captain Waterhouse)

I do not think such an arrangement necessary. The Army authorities hold stocks of the application form which has to be submitted to Collectors of Customs and Excise by persons in need of supplementary coupons. Thus, a serving soldier can get the coupons he needs in advance of his actual discharge.
