§ 72. Sir F. Fremantleasked the Minister of Labour the incidence of eye accidents in factories and the steps taken for their prevention?
§ Mr. McCorquodaleAbout 12,450 accidents causing eye injury were notified under the Factory Acts in 1941. Preventive measures are of various kinds according to the nature of the work, such as screens, wire guards, goggles and exhaust ventilation.
§ Sir F. FremantleMay I ask whether you, Sir, will protect me, because this Question and the next, No. 73 on the Order Paper, were addressed to the Minister of Supply in respect of his Department, and I particularly wanted a 1064 reply from him. May I ask whether it will not be passed on to the Ministry of Labour if I put down a similar Question to the Minister of Supply next week?
§ Mr. SpeakerQuestions are always passed to the Department which is responsible for the matter concerned.
§ Sir F. FremantleIt is the Minister of Supply who deals with these actual subjects in his factories.
