§ 23. Mr. Oliverasked the Secretary of State for War what steps are being taken to grant leave to come home to men who have been continuously overseas since the outbreak of war?
§ Sir J. GriggI regret that it is impossible at the present time to grant individual leave from most stations abroad. I can, however, assure my hon. Friend that the desirability of relieving complete units which have been overseas since the outbreak of war is not being overlooked, but he will realise that shipping and operational factors govern the situation.
§ Mr. OliverAre there any prospects of the answer of my right hon. Friend being put into effect in the near future?
§ Sir J. GriggMy hon. Friend can judge that as well as I can.
§ Mr. OliverI have not the facts at my disposal.
§ Sir J. GriggI should not have thought that the prospects were very rosy.
