HC Deb 03 June 1942 vol 380 c679
80. Mr. Tinker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware of the growing feeling among the electors over the position of old age pensioners; whether he has considered the resolution carried in Leigh at a mass meeting on Thursday, 14th May, 1942, asking for an increase of pension, the abolition of the means test and the removal of the stamp qualification, so that all aged people will be treated alike and with what result?

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Captain Crookshank)

My right hon. Friend has considered the resolution to which my hon. Friend refers, and would refer him to the answer which he gave to him on Tuesday, 3rd March.

Mr. Tinker

Do the Government intend to do something in this matter?

Miss Ward

On a point of Order, Mr. Speaker. You have not called Questions 78 and 79.

Mr. Speaker

I was informed that they had been withdrawn.

Miss Ward

No, I asked that they should be transferred to the first of the next series of Sitting Days if they were not reached to-day.

Mr. Speaker

The opportunity has passed now.

Miss Ward

May I have them transferred to the next series of Sitting Days?
