HC Deb 29 July 1942 vol 382 cc491-2
29. Mr. Harvey

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies the essential undertakings on which compulsory labour may be employed under the Kenya compulsory labour ordinance; and how do the current prices of the products of these undertakings compare with prices in earlier years?

Mr. Harold Macmillan

According to the latest information available in the Colonial Office, 25 undertakings have so far been scheduled as essential, and I have arranged for copies of the relevant "Gazette" notices to be placed in the Library of the House. The list is a long one, and comparative price figures are in many instances not immediately available. I am obtaining them from the Governor and shall communicate them to my hon. Friend.
