40. Mr. Lipson

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is now able to give an assurance that no definite decision will be made to transfer mobile members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment to the Auxiliary Territorial Service till this House has had an opportunity to discuss the matter?

Mr. Sandys

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Westhoughton (Mr. Rhys Davies) yesterday.

Mr. Lipson

Is not my hon. Friend aware of the interest taken in this matter by hon. Members in all parts of the House? Cannot he now give a definite assurance that the House will be consulted?

It would appear that my hon. Friend was not in his place yesterday.
