HC Deb 22 July 1942 vol 382 c22
29. Mr. Tinker

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning how many machines he has in use to remove the broken part of iron railings that were embedded in the stonework when the first operation of removing them was done; and in what part of the country they are in use?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works and Planning (Mr. Henry Strauss)

Sample machines have been in use in London since the middle of June and the first main deliveries of nearly 100 machines are now being distributed to London Boroughs and to Hull and Plymouth. They should be in use in the course of the present week. Additional machines will be distributed as they arrive from the manufacturers.
