HC Deb 15 July 1942 vol 381 cc1219-20
37. Dr. Russell Thomas

asked the Minister of Information whether he will consider taking steps to endeavour to form an Allied Propaganda Council working in close collaboration with the War Councils of the United Nations which would facilitate a balanced interchange of points of view between the Allies and coordinate in the matter of broad principles of policy all propaganda emanating from allied countries, thereby presenting a common front?

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Information (Mr. Thurtle)

The Ministry of Information has been active for a long time in promoting arrangements for co-ordinating the propaganda of the United Nations, and my right hon. Friend is considering what further steps can be taken in this direction.

Mr. Levy

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that propaganda is more extensive with regard to German and other foreign communiqués even than with regard to our own, both in the Press and on the wireless, and is that the best kind of propaganda?

Mr. Thurtle

I do not think that arises out of this Question.
