HC Deb 15 July 1942 vol 381 cc1217-8
30. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he has taken any steps to recover all the iron signposts which remain useless on country roads; and whether he is aware that they were erected to suit horsemen and will therefore be useless for modern traffic after the war?

Sir A. Salter

My Noble Friend the Minister of Works and Planning is taking steps to recover iron signposts, after consultation with the highway authorities concerned, where the scrap recoverable is commensurate with the amount of labour and cost involved.
