HC Deb 14 July 1942 vol 381 c1058
17. Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can now make a statement regarding the payment of allowances after 31st July to the dependants of men captured at Singapore?

21. Mr. Granville

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is in a position to make a statement with regard to the continuation of dependants' allowances of prisoners of war or missing in Singapore, Malaya and Burma?

Sir J. Grigg

In the continued absence of information from the Japanese Government it has been decided that, unless death is previously reported, the allowances now being paid to the families and dependants of personnel missing as a result of operations in the Far East shall remain unchanged during the next three months. The position will be kept under review.
