HC Deb 08 July 1942 vol 381 cc755-6
24. Mr. G. Strauss

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the almost identical conditions of work of the Royal Marine Police Special Reserve and the ordinary police, and the disparity in pay between these two services, he will consider taking steps to increase the pay of the former?

The Financial Secretary to the Admiralty (Mr. George Hall)

The rates of pay of Royal Marine Police Special Reservists are at present under review, and due consideration will be given to all relevant comparisons including the rates of pay of other Police Forces.

Mr. Strauss

Can my right hon. Friend say whether the review is likely to end shortly?

Mr. Hall

I think so.
