HC Deb 08 July 1942 vol 381 c753
18. Major Lyons

asked the Minister of Information what decision has now been reached on the question of the curtailment of hours for broadcasting in order to effect economies in light and power?

The Minister of Information (Mr. Brendan Bracken)

This matter is being very thoroughly considered. I can assure my hon. and gallant Friend that the B.B.C. and the Ministry are fully alive to the great public importance of every practicable measure of fuel economy.

Major Lyons

In view of the appeal to the public which the Government have recently made, will the right hon Gentleman take some steps to speed up this decision and set a good example?

Mr. Bracken

I always try to set a good example, but I do not believe that any leap in the dark is better than standing still.
