HC Deb 01 July 1942 vol 381 cc217-24

Ordered, That the Proceedings on the Motion relating to the Central Direction of the War be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.

Mr. Speaker

The last time we had a Debate when a large number of Members were anxious to speak, I made an appeal to the House, asking Members to be good enough to curtail their speeches, and, whether it was due to my appeal or to the strong sense of the House, on that occasion Members did curtail their speeches, and I am very grateful for it. This time there are even more Members wishing to speak than there were on the last occasion, and so I make the appeal again to Members to curtail their speeches as much as possible.
