HC Deb 29 January 1942 vol 377 cc926-7
Mr. Pethick-Lawrence

May I ask the Lord Privy Seal to tell us the Business for the next Sitting Days?

Mr. Attlee

The forthcoming Business is as follows:

First Sitting Day.—Second Reading of the Restoration of Pre-War Trade Practices Bill and Committee stage of the necessary Money Resolution.

Second Sitting Day.—Committee stage of Supplementary Estimates, beginning with the House of Commons, Miscellaneous Expenses and Government Hospitality; Committee stage of the Landlord and Tenant (Requisitioned Land) Bill.

Third Sitting Day.—Debate on the Report from the Select Committee on Offices or Places of Profit under the Crown.

If there is time, we shall make further progress with the War Orphans Bill and Patents and Designs Bill [Lords], and Motions to approve the Fish Sales (Charges) Order and the Timber (Charges) (No. 5) Order.

Mr. Pethick-Lawrence

In view of the importance attached to the question of shipping, as emphasised during our present Debate, may I take it that facilities will be available for discussion of the subject at an early date; and, further, in regard to production, may I take it that similar facilities will be given for a Debate on the subject?

Mr. Attlee

Certainly, Sir. The Government will take these requests into account and will endeavour to see what arrangements can be made.

Mr. Mander

When will the Minister without Portfolio be able to make his promised statement as to the contents of his portfolio?

Mr. Attlee

That will also be considered.

Colonel Sandeman Allen

Will the Debate on shipping be held in secret or not?

Mr. Attlee

That will be considered.

Sir I. Albery

Will the Securities (Validation) Bill be taken in the next series of Sitting Days?

Mr. Attlee

No, Sir.
