§ 35 and 36. Captain Alan Grahamasked the Minister of Information (1) whether he is aware that the British Broadcasting Corporation talks to Austria are run by a German team, naturally favouring pan-Germany, instead of by an Austrian team favouring an independent Austria; and whether he will see to it that genuine independent Austrian views are expressed in future;
(2) whether it is with his permission that the British Broadcasting Corporation propagate Pan-German tendencies in their talks to Germany and Austria in defiance of the Prime Minister's pledge of a free Austria, given on 9th November, 1940?
§ Mr. BrackenThe broadcasts to Austria are not run by a German team, but by a British team, assisted by Austrian collaborators. The B.B.C. does not broadcast pan-German propaganda to Austria or Germany. All statements with regard to the future of Austria have been based on the passage in the Prime Minister's speech to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers.
§ Captain GrahamIs my right hon. Friend aware it is evident that he has been grossly misinformed?
§ Mr. BrackenI am not aware that it is evident that I have been grossly misinformed.
§ Captain GrahamI am afraid my right hon. Friend is not competent to judge.
§ Mr. ManderIs the Minister aware that the opinion of some is totally different from that of the hon. and gallant. Member?
§ Captain GrahamI am supported by most of the Austrians.
