§ 21 and 22. Sir Waldron Smithersasked the Secretary of State for War (1) the number of troops and other personnel, including Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes, accommodated in the buildings of a racecourse, the name of which has been sent to him; and what arrangements are made for the accommodation of this personnel on the days when race meetings are held there;
(2) whether the troops at a certain racecourse, the name of which has been sent to him, receive extra pay for clearning up the litter and paper after race meetings; and, if so, how much per hour?
§ The Secretary of State for War (Captain Margesson)750 all ranks are accommodated in the buildings of the racecourse in question. On days whet race meetings are held at the most 100 men are moved temporarily into other accommodation in the stands, where beds are provided in the ordinary way. Troops are not employed on clearing up litter and paper except that they clean up their billets and billeting area in the normal way, for which of course no payment is made to them.
