HC Deb 27 January 1942 vol 377 c533
1. Mr. McNeil

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is now in a position to make a statement on the possibility of reimbursing Scottish jurors who, in giving service, lose wages and salaries and incur out-of-pocket expenses?

The Secretary of State for Scotland (Mr. T. Johnston)

I regret that in present circumstances time cannot be found for the legislation which would be required to give statutory authority for the proposals in the hon. Member's Question. I propose, however, to take administrative action designed to avoid the citation of persons to attend for jury service at long distances from their homes.
