HC Deb 20 January 1942 vol 377 c183
10. Miss Cozalet

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether, in view of representations made by some of the parents of the children evacuated overseas under the Children's Overseas Reception Board Scheme, it is proposed to send to the Dominions any part of the weekly contributions received from the parents for the use of the children or of their foster-parents?

Mr. Shakespeare

Yes, Sir. The Children's Overseas Reception Board has just completed a financial review and has decided that as from the beginning of this year all contributions from parents shall be at a uniform rate of six shillings per week. His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom are in communication with His Majesty's Governments in the Dominions on the question of the possible transfer to them of contributions from parents to be made available, as required, in such manner as they may consider best in the interests of the children.
