HC Deb 08 January 1942 vol 377 c5
6. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Minister of Labour the number, up to date, of men and women, respectively, prosecuted for not carrying out the instructions and directions of his Department under the several Rules and Regulations in force since the outbreak of war?

Mr. Bevin

The number of individuals so prosecuted up to date is 146 men and 5 women, in addition to 14 firms.

Mr. Davies

Will my right hon. Friend give serious consideration to prosecuting and sending to prison ex-miners, because they do not produce coal in prison?
