HC Deb 08 January 1942 vol 377 c6
28. Sir H. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the National Fire Service is still recruiting men between the ages of 19 and 30?

The Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

Recruitment of whole-time firemen is substantially confined to men posted under the machinery of the National Service Act, 1941; in general, only those who had attained the age of 25 on registration are posted.
