asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is satisfied that steps have been taken to ensure that the closest co-ordination exists between all electrical generating and distributive agencies, whether Governmental, municipal or private, so that the industry is in a position to meet any emergency demand the war effort may put on it at the shortest notice?

Captain Waterhouse

Yes, Sir. The Electricity Commissioners and the Central Electricity Board are in close and constant consultation with the Government Departments and other authorities and undertakings concerned it regard to the national electricity requirements.

Major Lyons

With reference to the second part of the Question, can my hon. and gallant Friend say whether the machinery is for the co-ordination immediately of all persons mentioned in the Question should emergency arise?

Captain Waterhouse

There is definitely machinery for co-ordination, and that is in constant operation.
