HC Deb 25 February 1942 vol 378 c205
59. Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Minister of Supply why it is that there has been a delay of more than 18 months in accepting the offer of a certain firm to produce a munition of war, of which the identity has been given him privately, and the priority of which is marked as higher than aircraft?

Sir A. Duncan

I do not accept the suggestion that there has been 18 months' delay. There is full capacity on existing plants for the requirements of the munition in question.

Mr. Dugdale

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that I have information showing that there has been this delay, and that this information has been sent to his Department?

Sir A. Duncan

I have seen the information sent by the hon. Member, and it does not confirm that there was delay. The firm was not in a position, when the original offer was made, to make this particular article.

Mr. Dugdale

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I intend to raise the matter on the Adjournment.
