§ 59. Mr. John Dugdaleasked the Minister of Supply why it is that there has been a delay of more than 18 months in accepting the offer of a certain firm to produce a munition of war, of which the identity has been given him privately, and the priority of which is marked as higher than aircraft?
§ Sir A. DuncanI do not accept the suggestion that there has been 18 months' delay. There is full capacity on existing plants for the requirements of the munition in question.
§ Mr. DugdaleIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that I have information showing that there has been this delay, and that this information has been sent to his Department?
§ Sir A. DuncanI have seen the information sent by the hon. Member, and it does not confirm that there was delay. The firm was not in a position, when the original offer was made, to make this particular article.
§ Mr. DugdaleIn view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I intend to raise the matter on the Adjournment.
