HC Deb 24 February 1942 vol 378 c11
24. Mr. Neil Maclean

asked the Secretary of State for War whether General de Gaulle will be consulted by the War Office for his advice on the various methods of tank warfare?

Mr. Sandys

General de Gaulle's advice will always be welcomed by the War Office, equally with the advice of other distinguished Allied officers.

Mr. Maclean

When the hon. Gentleman says that it will be welcomed, may I ask whether he or anyone else in the War Office has invited consultations? Are we waiting until General de Gaulle offers his services?

Mr. Sandys

A number of informal consultations have taken place between officers at the War Office and General de Gaulle on tank matters.
