HC Deb 19 February 1942 vol 377 c1898
63. Mr. A. Edwards

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the recent petrol price increase will have to be borne almost entirely by the Government; and what steps he is taking to implement the declared policy of the Government to stabilise prices?

Sir K. Wood

I am advised that the assumption in the first part of the hon. Member's Question is incorrect. As regards the second part, I would refer him to the answer which I gave to him last Tuesday.

Mr. Edwards

Is it not a fact that more petrol is being used for business purposes?
