HC Deb 18 February 1942 vol 377 cc1788-9
36. Mr. Lindsay

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what arrangements he has made with the Board of Education and local youth committees in order to make known the advantages of joining sea cadet units in various parts of the country?

Mr. Alexander

The two Departments are maintaining constant contact, and area officers have been appointed to super vise the five areas into which Sea Cadet Corps have now been organised. These officers will maintain the closest liaison both with local education authorities and local youth committees.

Mr. Lindsay

Does my right hon. Friend realise that boys are being inter viewed this week, and will he seize this opportunity to build up some units which are worthy of the Navy?

Mr. Alexander

I understand that that point is well in mind, and as a result of the conversation I had with my hon. Friend we are paying particular attention to some of the matters he raised.
