HC Deb 17 February 1942 vol 377 cc1641-2
40. Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the shortage of domestic workers in hospitals still persists; that numbers of those who perform these duties for a time, move off into other occupations with the result that skilled nursing staff are increasingly being called upon to carry out domestic duties; and whether, in view of these facts, he will apply the Essential Work Order to domestic staffs in hospitals?

Mr. Tomlinson

I have nothing to add to the reply given on 22nd January to my hon. Friend.

Mr. Adams

Can I have some idea as to what that reply was?
