HC Deb 10 February 1942 vol 377 c1372
14. Mr. Stokes

asked the Secretary of State for War whether a decision has yet been taken with regard to the formation of an Irish Brigade for service in the British Army, and, if so whether he will give the widest publicity to the fact that such a unit is in existence?

Sir E. Grigg

I regret that I am not in a position to make a statement on this subject at the present time.

Mr. Stokes

Is it a fact that of the first 11,000 recruits in Northern Ireland 8,000 came from the South, and would it not be a good thing to canalise that line of supply so that they can be together?

Professor Savory

What is the hon. Member's ground for the statement in his Supplementary Question?
