HC Deb 03 February 1942 vol 377 c1043
49. Mr. Sloan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the sum that has been paid by the Exchequer to stockbrokers as commission on War Loan?

Sir K. Wood

The total commission paid to stockbrokers on War Loans since the commencement of the war amounts to £696,000, which represents commission, nearly all at the rate of one-eighth of one per cent., on total subscriptions of about £565,000,000.
