HC Deb 03 February 1942 vol 377 c1036
29. Mr. De la Bère

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will convene a meeting of the chambers of trade throughout the whole country with a view to considering and ascertaining the best methods of protecting the livelihood of the small retailers throughout the country?

Sir A. Duncan

The Retail Trade Committee propose to consult representative trade organisations about this and other matters raised in their second interim report, which I have received. I hope that the report will be published on Thursday of this week.

Mr. De la Bère

Will my right hon. Friend do everything in his power to keep in touch with the chambers of trade in this matter, because they have a large amount of information? May I also say how much I appreciate the efforts that have been made in this matter by my right hon. Friend?
