HC Deb 16 December 1942 vol 385 c1898
15. Mr. Purbrick

asked the Secretary of State for Air why the services of senior Women Auxiliary Air Force officers are not used in administrative positions, in place of Royal Air Force officers, of which there is a shortage, thus releasing them for more important work?

The Joint Under-Secretary of State for Air (Captain Harold Balfour)

Subject to considerations of necessary experience and efficiency, it is already the practice to substitute W.A.A.F. officers for R.A.F. officers in administrative posts so far as operational requirements will allow.
