HC Deb 16 December 1942 vol 385 c1932
69. Mr. Thorneycroft

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he will at once free from toll the Warburton High Level Ship Canal bridge, thus saving time and inconvenience, and releasing the men for more important service?

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport (Mr. Noel-Baker)

I am not aware of any special reason for dealing with this bridge as my hon. Friend proposes, but if he has any particular difficulty in mind, and will furnish me with details, I will look into the matter without delay.

Mr. Thorneycroft

Has not the hon. Member received a number of resolutions from the local authority pointing out the serious inconvenience caused to the members of the community who have to use that bridge every day in order to go to their work?

Mr. Noel-Baker

I am not aware of those resolutions. If my hon. Friend will send them to me, I will look into the matter.
